I have a Dell Vostro 1400 that with no sound from the speakers. Sound is available through the headphone connector. I ran the built-in diagnostics and it is giving an error about the sound not connected. This notebook is pretty new but I'm hesitant to send it back to Dell. Last time I did this they returned it and it was overheating. They had not secured the heat sink/fan assembly well. They fix one thing and harm something else.

Does someone know how to open a Vostro 1400 to the point of seeing if the speaker connector is pluged in correctly. Since the heat sink was a problem before, it's very possible they left something else disconnected or poorly connected.
