Internal beep. Anything I should be worried about? It never happens when I'm playing games on it, rather I'm just doing something and it has this horrible internal beep like it's dying :(

    But no problems!

Should I go into the BIOS or should I leave it on. Any underlying issues?

Its just saying Hi! Maybe you should talk to it more.

All jokes aside...its not normal, and shouldn't be doing that. Is it possible there is a problem with your battery?

    Nope. No problems at all.

Perhaps it's due to my dorm which has some power issues. It sometimes doesn't give the right output and then my computer compensates by giving less power to the laptop

    Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products. I read about the beep and wanted to offer some advice.

The beeps are usually an indication of something failing. In this case it may be the CMOS battery that’s going out. I would suggest running some diagnostics on the machine to make sure that it’s nothing too serious. If you don’t have the diags available you can download them here. If you are still in warranty we should be able to get the CMOS battery out to you quickly. You can check your warranty status here. If you don’t want to sit on the phone you can chat with a representative here.

If you have any other questions or need any further assistance please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I also have that beep periodically coming out from the right side. I can say it for sure not due to the CMOS battery. After I swapped in another SATA hard drive and installed XP Pro, that noise run away. I have not heard that beep for a couple months now while it beeps every few days when it was running Vista. I think the beep is related to certain driver, if not the OS.
