I just received my Vostro 1400 yesterday and I am pretty happy with it so far, especially given the $350 savings over the similar equipped D630 I had been considering. I have had one problem though with the touchpad. Basically after each time my computer comes back from sleep or I turn it on the touchpad speed is reset to the middle setting. None of the other settings change, just the speed. I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem? I am also using a wireless USB Logitech mouse but I don't see how that could be changing anything. This is really frustrating as I am constantly having to speed to the touchpad. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Same problem here. I adjust the speed and save it. But when it comes back from sleep or restart, its reset :(.

I had the same issue with Vostro 1500. A fix would be appreciated.

I noticed similar issues with my Logitech mouse. I wonder if the issues are related to the setpoint drivers from logitech. Are you using a logitech mouse too?

Have you tried the Alps driver (I think it's from the 1420) instead of the normal driver for the 1400? Maybe that would hold settings changes?

I did try them. I believe they are the older ones that give a lot more features? I discovered that Dell lists drivers for their own Logitech mice. I will see if maybe I can get these to install with my regular Logitech mice. Maybe these will play nicer.

I just figured it out on my own. It's logitech driver that screws things up. I uninstalled it and problem went away.
