08/06 Night: Just ordered the Dell Vostro 1400. ($649 deal with some upgrades.)
08/07 Morning: Called in to upgrade to Windows Vista Premium, order had to be cancelled and have a new one placed. (There goes my 1.5% FatCash )
08/08 Morning: Called the 1-800-433-9014 number and it's in Boxing stage.
08/10 Night: Received email notifying my order was shipped via DHL Ground!
Email's "Est. Ship Date: 09/10/2007"
This is surprising. After the late late estimated shipment date and all the shipping horror stories I've been reading, I really didn't expect it to ship so soon. It only took them about 3 days (after reordering for Vista Home Premium.) to ship the laptop. I did try sending in an email asking them to expedite my order and include the Vista discs on the night of 08/07, but I didn't receive a reply from them.
Here's my laptop build, if that helps:

-
wow, thats fast. I'm on day 2 of my re-order
tomorrow it will ship =P, lol -
I ordered mine 4 days ago, and there's no sign of being in boxing stage =(
-
Does anyone know the stages to getting it? Is it Order >> Shipping Parts >> Build >> Box >> Shipped?
-
Shipping parts is known as Pre-production and I believe there's a testing phase right before boxing
-
That was fast. Mine's coming in on monday Ordered the 29th?
-
Yeah, mine should be coming in on Monday too.
I ordered on the night of 6th but changed the order in the morning of 7th, so basically ordered on the 7th of August. -
It goes pre-production>>build>>delay>>testing>>boxing>>shipping>>then happy time
-
Probably someone cancelled their order when it was halfway through production. Otherwise 3 days is awefully fast.
-
my vostro was shipped on the 7th itself..im still waiting
-
My Vostro 1400 shipped in 3 days. My Vostro 1500 shipped in 4 days.
Both will be here on Monday. -
Thanks,
Chris -

3. Building
4. Testing

my Vostro 1400 was *delivered* in 5 days. And since i didn't order next day shipping, it took atleast 2 days to deliver
So, yeah, mine was shipped out in 3 days as well. But more importantly, I received FREE 2nd day shipping without me ever calling Dell or chatting to any rep.
Fast Dell + Fast DHL = -
-
Damn, ordered my Vostro 1400 on the 6th of August, and the estimated delivery date is the 30th!
It's still in the build stage now..I hope it comes early, then again, I'm in New Zealand...
