    Dell Vostro 1400 Microphone Fix

    I got a new Dell Vostro 1400 with built-in Webcam. The sound worked fine but the microphone didn't work. After searching through multiple threads, I finally contacted Dell tech support and found the solution. Note: I'm running Windows XP on my machine.

    The latest SigmaTel driver available on the Dell website apparently is the wrong one. Download this one (171789.exe) and it should fix your problem.

    You couldn't have wrote this at a better time... I downgraded (upgraded?) my 1400 to XP 1 week ago and only today I tried to use my mic and it wouldn't work... you fixed in a minute... thanks a lot!
