    Hi all,

First off im in Australia, so im not sure if this applies for the whole global Dell community.

Not sure if anyone has posted this but its regarding the Vista upgrade for people who purchased a Dell system before 26th October 06 (I believe that was when the express upgrade began to be offered). I was talking to customer sales yesterday as I was trying to work out if I was eligible for the upgrade. As i purchased my 6400 on the 23rd October.

Apparently Dell are working out a way for people who purchased their system just prior to the express vista upgrade offer to get vista. The customer service assistant informed me that it will be available to these people but they are still working out the price for the upgrade. Im assuming it will be significantly less than purchasing the upgrade in a shop.

Now im not sure how the upgrade works for people who purchased their system during the offer, whether they got a full copy of vista or just an upgrade. Or even if they had to pay for it. But the good news is that for us who just missed out we may not have to pay full price for the upgrade/full version of vista for our machines sometime in the near future.

    Cheers :)

My guess is that will start selling OEM copies like newegg and a few other online vendors have been doing, Micosoft seems content with it, so anyway to make a buck. I would guess it would be around $100 US for home premium possibly lower, though I wouldnt think by much, I think neweggs price is $120 for the full oem version.

For Canada, you gotta pay $24~ CDN for S&H (if purchased during offer period) and I do believe you get the upgrade version, though theres a work-around where you don't need xp/don't invalidate your xp key when upgrading.
