It was deleted due to potential NDA(Non Disclosure Agreement) issues, I have no idea whether that is true or not, but we deleted for that reason.

    AKA. Legal issues.

some dude read his friends email (the friend works for Dell) and one of his emails was from some Dell boss - the email talked about upcoming releases of Dell notebooks or something, can't really remember the whole post as the OP didn't speak English that well and I usually don't believe the whole "my friends Dad works for ___ and he said blah blah blah" :p

Even you do have any information, I do believe there is a Non-Disclosure Agreement currently in force for anyone who has such information. That means that, if leaked, there can (and probably will) be legal action against the source. No one gets that info without an NDA order.

Personally, I doubt it about the Vortoso laptop though. They already have Insprion and XPS notebooks, Latitude and Precision...why differentiate their products even more? That is all that can probably be said...so don't say any more.

Well i was the OP about the new Dell vortoso line of laptops.. and it got deleted for a reason.. i didn't want it to b deleted but moderators thought it was NDA...

And i don't know what english u talk??.. Did u read the whole post?? it was in plain simple english..

I'll summarize the post for u.. It was from my friends Dell D620 laptop.. The microsoft outlook inbox msg from some dell person..( Earlier i had given the name) and i'm using the phrase "my friends laptop" cuz i dont want him to get in trouble.. else i could give u full details..

The mail said we are introducin 6 new products as a part of dell rebranding:

    Inspiron NT
    Inspiron DT

    Vortoso NB
    Vortoso DT

    XPS NB
    XPS DT

and i was not sure abt the spelling of VORTOSO cuz i read it in hurry..

    Now keep "blahin"... :D

Yeah. Dell is trying hard to come on top of HP and a new line of laptops with KEWL design could give a refreshed image and something to cheer about for consumers.

Even i want to buy a new DESIGN laptop fron Dell... Cool news if its true :)

Could be the new name designated for their launch of products in WALMART in June.

You know, if they just fixed the color scheme on the current Inspirons, they wouldn't be so bad. They look pretty muscular, but that white/silver/black thing really screws it over.

As for a design laptop from Dell....I'll believe it when I see it, but it makes sense that if they were doing another line, it would be related to fashion and stuff, similar to that Acer Gemstone business. Although, those aren't looking too hot right now. I assume that DT means desktop. I fail to see how they can make a fashion desktop, or even a design related desktop, without doing a custom type paint job or something similar.

As for walmart. I doubt it, WalMart will probably just sell the lower-end Inspiron/Dimensions, like the 1505, E1505, C and E521s.

"""In his interview with CRN, Michael said we would be retail outlets in U.S. and major countries around the world over the next several quarters. Working with Wal-Mart to sell Dimension E521 desktops in 3,000 stores in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico is a small first step. Customers will have the option to purchase a Dimension E521 desktop without a monitor or an E521 with a 19-inch flat panel. Systems will be available beginning June 10. Dell will provide support for these systems"""

unlikely that the new name would be used for WALMART sales.. Guess, we'l have to wait

That's possible...but most likely those names that were provided as internal code names for the project. Just like Santa Rosa will be called Core 2 Duo when they are out in the market.

Maybe a mid-range line? There is a pretty decent gap between the Inspiron and XPS lines.

I'm just hoping for a revamped design, especially for the notebooks. The grey+white trim is so... bleh.

Not really. They will be Intel only and will have an 'n' version with Linux. I have some speculations in the Inspiron 1520/1720 thread.
Vostro means "yours" in Latin. Potentially this means that its a more consumer/fashion oriented notebook.

Of this, I doubt. The two currently known Vostro laptops are the 1500 (15.4") and 1700 (17"). Asus is contracted to build a 14" Dell notebook; I am thinking that this may be an XPS M1425 or something, as a mid-range model with an 8600M GT between the M1225 and M1725 (Guessing on the names here)
