maybe they're getting rid of the 1330? too many problems perhaps?
interesting if true. -
that link redirects back to notebookreview.com FYI
Check out the front page. -
Link worked fine for me.
-
no they need a small notebook. If anything it would replace the 1530, but remember its a "Concept" not production model
-
that's a waste of time in my opinion. Hardly anybody likes the 1920 resolution in that size, it's just too small. The only thing that aspect ratio gives you is full screen, full view, no black borders for watching HDTV. Movies are generally at an even wider format, so you'll still get black borders or clipped edges watching those.

I don't understand DELL putting an 8600 in an "XPS". They seem to have really watered down their power line.
-
I think the 8600 series is a good compromise between performance, price, size, battery life, and heat output. Dell has Alienware for hardcore gaming systems.
That said, I don't see any use in continuing to enlarge the 1330 profile. We already have the 1530, which is essentially just the 1330 chassis, but larger. How about Dell starts to make its existing XPS models exceptional rather than expanding onto new model numbers? -
16 " !!? wtf !?
why not a 18 " ?! -
-
8700 graphic card would make some consider purchasing it, but 8600? with no sli graphics?
-
On one hand i find it absurd, on the other, i understand their logic.
here me out now.
1. Having a 13" performance notebook is hard to do at an affordable price. considering most will just go for a better equiped 1520/25 14" instead. it's hard to make a performance laptop that is small.
Making the XPS line 15/16/17 will still allow them to give three size choices while allowing them to offer better hardware than they could fit in a 13" model. they're trying to aim them at gamers. they may only use the tag "gamer" on the 17" but still it's obvious. and if they can't put in good GPU hardware into the 13" then there is no point. it's just a better looking spreadsheet pusher.
the 13" isnt equiped to be a XPS 'high-end' notebook. the 1420/25 simply gives it too much of a run for it's money. better options and price. 1330 is no longer needed on the lineup.
they might be able to come out with the next gen 13" in the future. but right now it's not working.
Thats my little rant. like it or not, rep accordingly . -
Now they just need a 14 incher and the lineup will be complete
1330, 1430, 1530, 1630, 1730 muwhahahaha!!! -
looks good! i dont know what 0.6 of an inch is going to do tho?

CES 2008: Dell to show 16-inch Laptop
Two new machines unveiled tomorrow
by Stuart Miles
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 January 2008 0:05 GMT - Dell has announced it will be showing a movie focused laptop with a 16-inch Display on the opening day of CES in Las Vegas.
The screen, which promises true 16:9 aspect radio will sport a full HD 1080p resolution.
Claiming to be the most accurate representation of video content for select Blu-ray movies and digital TV is seen with a 16:9 display Dell say that when the source video is 16:9, the movie images will fill the entire 16-inch display with no letterboxing unlike typical 14.1-, 15.4- and 17-inch notebook displays feature a 16:10 ratio versus the 16:9 aspect ratio used in most HDTVs.
The company is also planning on showing off the XPS 630i a new entry-level gaming desktop apart of the company's XPS range.
According to Dell the XPS 630i will be more compact than the powerhouse XPS 720 family, but wont' "compromise on performance".
We will bring all the latest from the show floor on Monday. -
Obviously going to be the M1630.
-

the next generation of LCD manufacturing process supposedly favours 16inch panels for economical reasons. And manufacturers will find ways to fit a 16inch screen into existing 15'4 inch chasis, im assuming the 16inch M1530 uses the same 15'4 chasis. this way you are just gaining more screen space for 'free'. I don't see why not.
8600GT DDR3 is about as good as it gets without going into 8800GTX and we have all seen how large Alienware had to make the M15x to fit that card.
16' notebooks seems to be the new 15'4, although this might eat 17inch sales. 17inch laptops will need to have much more powerful GFX cards in the future. non of this bs HP 9500 -
it should atleast have the 8700gt
-
OMG! I think that looks HIDEOUS! They've taken a thing of beauty (m1330) and bastardized it into that abomination!
