debating between a 2310 ultrasharp and the alienware OptX 2310 monitor.
hows the response time for gaming? is there any ghosting or tearing for the ultrasharps?
the biggest turn-off for the ultrasharp is the response time, so im just curious to see if it plays a big role in it.

For competitive gaming, 120hz/TN panels are ideal because of fast response time, not to mention cheap.
Ultrasharp which uses IPS panels has pretty colours but also naturally has a slower response. The Dell U2311 and 2411 have pretty good response times though, its the 27" and 30" that suffer severely, maybe because they have twice as many pixels. I myself have the U2711 and i dont notice any ghosting or such, but i sure wouldnt stick with it if im a hardcore fps gamer.

...although im not sure if i should go with the ultra-sharp or the OptX. I basically want vivid colors and HD/sharp resolutions while i play games... lol. -
I highly doubt you will notice the response times between the two. But after closely looking at the tech specs between the U2311 and OptX, while they both have the same resolution, the OptX actually has a higher color gamut by 1%. So yeah thats a clear win for AW, plus it would match your M18x nicely too.
Except the U2311 will always have superior viewing angles due to the IPS panel, which is not a big deal unless your really fussy. Its only the 27" and 30" that have the best graphics (2560x1600p, 110% color gamut, 1.07billion color depth, Color calibrated)
Dell Ultrasharp monitors good for gaming?
