Well I just found out theres a 15% off coupon for XPS systems over £599. Pretty sweet deal considering they also have free delivery on 3/4 of the XPS M1530 models.

    Basically for £614.44 I get.

    Dell XPS M1530
    Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4Ghz
    4GB memory
    250GB HDD
    8600GM GT

    everything else is as standard.

Now I know its a great deal, but is this offer one of many to come for dells Inspiron and XPS range? The coupon was released around the same time Montevina was officially released. I can imagine Dell wanting to keep selling their current XPS and Inspirons and not have people hold back for new systems.

So is this coupon a sign of things to come, more deals and bargains?

From what you guys have seen do you think I will be able to pick up a new Dell Centrino 2 system before september that will cost no more than £750? And still be able to perform as well as the system above? I'm in no hurry to buy, and I can wait until around september.

    Thanks

Dell UK coupons are only valid 1 week after issue. However, there is usually one coupon issued every week for systems above £599. Normally it's 10% off, but this week it's 15%. The reasons are probably as you've stated, Dell is attempting to get rid of old stock. If you think getting an extra 5% off your order will be worth more than waiting for centrino 2, then buy that machine now.

I dont think we will see a new XPS anytime soon will take a while before centrino 2 is introduced in most laptops i think. I also heared something about dell wanting to get rid of the whole XPS serie

If not the first week, then definitely the second week. Probably only on systems costing above £599 though. However, you could of course always call Dell and barter.

dell's getting rid of gaming computers on their XPS line, giving more $$ to their Alienware division

but the m1530/m1330 would probably stay..... the XPS line would probably be configured closer to the likes of these two laptops: sleek profile, portability, little gaming...

im not sure whether the wait for Montevina(and probably the increased cost) is worth it, since WiMax and integrated graphics isn't soemthing that i need(for my soon-to-be-purchased m1330)... i would buy now, since UK Dell doesnt offer that many discounts

Montevina will most likely be more expensive than the deals on current systems, because of the new tech? It's likely you could get better (9 series) graphics cards (and definitely better processors), but you'll probably have to pay more... Where do you get dell uk coupons from, out of interest, as I want to get a 1530 soon too. Thanks :)

Edit : Been linked to coupon in my thread, thanks Mr Maz :)

www.dmxdimension.com had all the UK coupons and deals.

15% is good, but hopefully I can get something even cheaper down the line?

Wow, i can get a fully loaded M1730 for 1,600£ shipped with this coupon.

I'm thinking of taking the plunge. Montevina isn't THAT great and the video cards will be the same. Plus, the M1730 with SLI and Raid0 will be fast!!
