I have a question about trading ownership. I'm about to receive a M1530 from Dell. If I decide to trade this laptop to another owner for a M1710, what happens to the warranty? I have around 600 days left on it. What happens if the other owner has little time left/no warranty on their M1710.

Also, if something were to happen to the M1710 and I have the warranty covered, will the replacement be of the form factor of my original system or the M1710?

Warranty stays with the machine it came with. If there's 2 days left in warranty on the M1710, that's all you get.

If you take ownership of the M1710 and something happens to it, as long as it's still under warranty, Dell would replace it with another M1710.

You can transfer the warranty details to the new owner - I think you need to contact Dell, or there is a form on their site to fill out with the current and new owner details etc.

As stated above, however long is left on the warrenty is what is transferred - its not renewed.
