I had to reinstal win xp on a two year old E1505 due to a software issue with microsoft net framework. I did a poor job of keeping track of the drivers. Used Dell Tech chat support this morning and they were great at helping get a couple of drivers installed that I had overlooked. Can not be a more positive experience. Dell gets too much bad press and not enough good press about tech support.

Dell tech support can be really good. It all depends on the person you talk to though. Luckily I don't have to call them that often. (knock on wood).

I agree. When I was talking to Dell about a fan problem, the first rep I talked to was clueless. However, once I tried again, I got a very helpful one that agreed to send it in for repairs.

I hate it when you get a tech n00b who ends up telling you what you already know. My ISP has a real knack for this. You get some high school student that follows the instruction his computer tells him. When you answers don't match those on the screen they instantly panic. My ISP's tech service always makes me lol. Kinda sad though for people who call for real help.

Its the nature of a phone job. I assume a bigger percentage of good techs will have an IT position somewhere other then sitting on a phone troubleshooting.
