My Dell Studio 1555, which is 3 years old, went berserk couple of days ago. When I start it up, screen is black and it starts beeping randomly. When I pressed F12 it beeped 6 times in regular pattern. After a little research, I found out that this 6 beeps are code for Video Card Failure (my card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 512 MB). I disassembled my laptop in search for something unusual, all I found was that one side of CMOS battery socket broke off the mother board. My question is - does this broken socket can cause this video card problem problem? If not, how can I find out what failed with my graphic card?

Was the CMOS battery still in place ?
I am also wondering what damage the lose metal clip could have done to your motherboard assy if it managed to short things out.
was the laptop dropped ?
