The connectors flip up and down which is nice but it's easy to break if don't realize it's not like a standard ribbon connector.

Depending on how much the piece broke you may be able to carefully put it back in place, even if one of the sides is broken. Use a little hot glue to secure it ... if it's not salvageable you can still just use hot glue, just make sure the ribbon is centered and put pressure on the cable until the glue hardens completely so it keeps in contact, and don't put any tension on the cable when you seat the keyboard.

Yes, thank you, but I threw out the whole piece. THOSE PIECES BRAKE VERY EASILY. :(
I accedentally broke it because I didn't know that was needed for the backlight keyboard. Now I can never get that keyboard.

You broke the entire white socket off the motherboard, not just the little black door/clamp piece?

You can still fix it then with hot glue ... I've done similar repairs before successfully, it's trickier with the any of the black piece, but the ribbon cable has the stiffener piece you can put pressure on to make sure the cable is pinned to the contacts while you wait for the hot glue to harden completely. Keep the ribbon slack while you put the keyboard back in because you don't want to pull on the wire.

I doubt Dell would sell that small piece, all motherboards may not even use the same piece. Best bet may be to find the part from an online electronics dealer like mouser or digikey
