Follow this link to their site: http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/notebooks?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19 It seems that it is finally here and has replaced the XPS M1530. The only weird part is that whenever you click on it it says that it is "unable to process your request". Probably because they are doing some type of testing before they officially make it available. But these are the specs that are official: The weight is 4.85 pounds and the starting price is $1406 in USD.

Thats awesome news..for the site itself!
My EPP discount would make the $$ even less

The question is what are it's actual specs and when will the studio XPS 16 be announced. -
they are replacing a 15.4" with a 13.3"?
-
Looks like the page is gone.. :-(

i think dell removed the link...

I think the XPS m1330/m1530 look nicer. The Studio XPS 13 looks nice as well, but it looks bulkier from the pic's that I've seen. I like the sleekness and simplicity of the XPS m1330/m1530.

+1lb more than the old XPS. Almost the same weight as the current Studio 13.
The hardware better be real good or else there is really no incentive to buy the premium line. From the leaked pictures it looks to be thicker and bulkier than the old XPS as well. So much for an upgrade. Instead of maintaining or increasing the gap between the mainstream and the premium they've narrowed it. Not to mentioned the premium is 2-3 months behind. -
What 2,2kg starting weight?
Amazing. That's a lot. -
Just noticed that too, can't wait to see the spec, and CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE 16".
I am in Hong Kong/Aus tho, need further waiting :/ -
Looks like Dell has gotten a little ahead of themselves, it is not actually available yet.

http://support.dell.com/support/top...d=5E4FB60DB41F8C22E040AE0AB7E13224&doclang=en
It has BIOS A04 even before shipping? -
Why is that under "Technical Support for Inspiron Mini 9 (910)" ?
-
-
Doh! Does the 1640 has its own support page yet? Or just a few KB articles?
-
The 13" Studio XPS is heavier than the old 13" XPS. The 16" will replace the 15" since 16:9 is the new "in".
-
I guess the first thing anyone should do after they've received their new XPS 1640 is to check to make sure their BIOS is newer than A04
Next up is to call Nvidia and check if the GPU is a bad batch. -
redundant thread. this was already spotted yesterday.

I'm excited, waiting for like 4 months now
-
Just under five pounds for a 13" notebook? Hell, I'd rather have a hardware refresh in the M1330 and get that. Better be a hell of a machine.
-
I'm hoping the weight is a mistake since the picture is also a mistake.
-
I also feel that this aren't the final specs due to the posting itself is not correct. Unless they aren't setting the Studio XPS 13 to be their lightweight 13 inch notebook and reserving that spot for the Adamo.
-
It appears to have been pulled now.
-
-
-
well this pretty much confirms I have to send back my other wise excellent 1737.
-
If you are in the market for a 13 inch notebook, why did you buy a 1737? Plus, we don't know when these will actually come out besides the webmaster's mistake.
-
no not 13 but the 16 Studio XPS, will probably be 1080p the new "in" widescreen. although 1920x1200 is well above 1080p and the PC will just do aspect ratio correction so we all have 1080p anyways if your resolution is high enought
Anyways what I meant was the 16 Studio XPS will end up being 16.4 or something enough to be my Desktop Replacement.
And its specs will no doubt be superior to the Current 1737 Montevinia
I am guessing DDR3 and a Graphics card with GDDR3 Memory.
enough of a difference to make it significant.
Not that I am not loving my 5 day old 1737, totally silent Fans rarely come on even on High performance.
and the T9400 CPU with 6MB cache is probably too much horsepower. -
It seems to be removed now.
-
Oh well...it will back again, sometime!
Cin -
Yup, just checked, it's now gone, arghh... I was hoping the link would actually start to work.
-
Hrm. Monday's here, the lappy is not.
-
You can still get the link to the 1340 config page here.
I was so excited about this until I got to its weight. Hopefully the Adamo will save the day. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well it has the ATI 3670 thats decent though they should have waited for the Dell 4670
Also this thing is available with 4/6/8gb of DDR3 ram
Also FINALLY an RGB LED screen in a consumer notebook this looks great i cant lie
also the fact that the m1340 has a 9500m option is amazing and thats a great card for a 13". -
Its ADAMO or nothing for me since what I need now that I have a Desktop replacement is an Ultra Portable.
-
what the hell is ATI Mobility RADEON® M86XT

for anyone in germany this is good news: http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/xpsnb?c=de&cs=dedhs1&l=de&s=dhs&ref=homepg

Does anyone know how does the nVidia 9500GS compare to say a 8600GT or the ATi 3670 that's in the 1640.
The 1640 GPU is a little dissapoiting, but the nVidia 9500 in the 1340 is a real surprise. -
I feel the Radeon 3670 is faster than the GeForce 8600m GT.

'Slot Load Optical Drive
Watch your standard DVD's in full high definition when you connect to your 1080p HD plasma or LCD TV using the HDMI port.'
At face value, this is obviously a monumental lie... but then I thought, perhaps that slot drive is genuinely capable of hardware upscaling?!
That would actually be very cool. But not as cool as a Blu-Ray burner Dell. Seriously. That HDMI port is crying right now, and so am I.
I love everything else though.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
'Automated hi-def up-conversion allows you to watch all your DVD movies in brilliant HD'
That would be a 'yes' then. Haha!
