    Hello all,

I have a Dell Studio 1537 and whenever I have the webcam on, it freezes the frame after about 5-10 minutes of working perfectly, then it essentially crashes my computer. Either windows entirely freezes (no Ctrl + Alt + Delete), or just gets stuck at the "shutting down" screen and I have to hold the power button to shut down

I have updated the BIOS to A05
    I have tried several versions of the webcam driver (Microsoft default / 1.2.x.x. / 1.3.2.1919 / 1.4.1.1009)
With and without Dell Webcam Console installed.
Before downloading all the Vista updates and After all Vista updates
Video chat program running, not running.

It freezes when I am in chat, and even if I am just doing a video recording.

    Dell Studio 1537
    3G Ram
    Intel 5100 AGN
    Integrated 2MP Cam
Vista Home Premium SP1 + all the updates

Does anyone else have this same problem? Or can test to see if this is an inherent problem with the system design or just my computer?

Thanks so much! I tried searching, and could not find any topic on this...

On my current Studio 1535 I don't have that problem. I will report back when I get my Studio 1537, but I won't be back in Philadelphia until post January 7th to do that. Hopefully someone else can help you wrap it down before then.

Wanted to report back, and inform that I contacted Dell, had a tech remote into my laptop, and showed them the problem. the Studio 1537 was replaced with a brand new laptop shortly after Christmas. The issue isn't happening as predictably anymore.

The new one has Bios A07...which isnt even out, and had a newer video driver that was just released this last week.

It has happened twice in the last month. Once after 15 minutes...another time after an hour.
