Hello, I just ordered a Dell Studio 14 today, and it comes with 4GB of DDR3 1333MHz ram but in the Order Status page is says that it runs at 1066MHz. I was wondering why it is underclocked. Is it limited by the bus speed? Also, if it is limited to that speed, why would they sell 1333MHz ram if the max speed is 1066MHz?
Thanks.

U probably have an i5 or an i3 processor right?? If so then those processors or chipsets or somethin like that supports on upto 1066MHZ! Only the i7s support the full 1333MHz

They should send it with 1333 tbh... otherwise is defeats half the reason to get an i7 in the first place.

They did the direct opposite to me.I ordered my 1557 with 4gb of 1066 and they sent me 1333 (on my second one,the first had 1066)with it.
I figured it was just a supply issue. -
either supply or there may be a bios update that makes the i3s an i5s run at 1333.
Mine is 6gb 1333, clocked to 1066. -
Hi Albertfish,
I am getting a new 1558 here in Canada and the order detail list the same ram frequency conflict as yours. Since it is not the i7 limitation, I presume that it might be the chipset. Do you know which chipset that was used in your system? -
Hello demon6. According to the website the chipset should be the Intel® PM55.

Where did you purchase your notebook? Dell Canada ? -
