Hi guys,
I have got a Dell Studio 1535 which has an ATi HD3450 256MB.
My video player is Media Player Classic Home Cinema which I use to get the gpu video acceleration with 720/1080p files.
Lately I have fluidity problems just with 1080p movies and the images are slowed down and I'm obliged to use Core AVC 2.0 to fix the issue.
I have read the latest three Catalyst Drivers "Release Notes" and they have updated/implemented Avivo codecs just in HD 4xxx and 5xxx family products...
Is that the problem or what else?
Core AVC is a good program but increases a lot the cpu usage (average use between 35-50% in a dual core processor...) and the video image is less sharp and noisier...
That's why I have always use it just to play files which aren't DXVA (not supported by the GPU).
Thank you for your help and tips...
p.s
My O.S. is Windows 7 32bit (just formatted and updated) and I have tried different Catalyst drivers and the latest Media Player Classic Home Cinema Beta version as well.

Do you have a 1080p screen on your laptop?

Try using Splashlite.

Problem is that ATI 3450HD card. It only has a 64-bit data bus. Which is slowing you down especially 1080p which should be handled by the GPU in hardware.
The ATI 3650HD cards have a 128-bit wide Data bus bigger pipe = faster. And handled by the GPU.
I run 720p 1080p files and my Core 2 Duo doe snot gove above 16% useage.
I can have 10 720p and 1080p video open at the same time, maybe it will hit 50% useage. Because the GPU is doing most of the work. -

It sounds like a driver issue to me.
Maybe the the gpu driver isnt boosting the 2D speeds to accommodate for the 1080p movie.
You can try this.
Go into CCC under "Power Play" and disable it.
Thats going to keep your 3D clock speeds on all the time.Run your 1080p movie and see what it does.
Also there is a 10.6 driver out now.I would update to those -
Also the OP is blaming the ATI card??
Alot of 1080p files work is handled by the CPU, What type of CPU do you have??
I have a Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53Ghz and 1066Mhz FSB and 6MB cache. And that eats up multiple 1080p sources or files with no problems or slow downs at all. -
Dual Core T8100@2100 MHz.
I don't have any issue if I use CoreAVC 2.0 as I wrote previously.
But the image quality is much poorer and the cpu's usage increases a lot (reaches 40%).
I have also tried to disable the "power play" and install the latest Catalyst but I haven't any improvement.
If you check out the screenshot above there is written "Clock GPU: 547 Mhz (Original: 500, Overclock 9%)" which means the driver boosts the 2d speed. -
In addition to all that I would update my Firmware, and make sure that the T8100 was in Turbo Boost mode. -
