Ok I'm not a computer whiz at all, so bare with me.
I have a 320GB hard-drive installed at the moment, Is it possible to add more storage, I'm pretty sure there's room for another, just not 100% sure on how I'd go about doing this.
Are all internal hard drives basically the same, 2.5" or something like that is it?
Can anyone stick up a link to a suitable hard drive.
Cheers.

I think the 1747 and 1749 chassis are identical in this regard. Adding a 2nd hard drive to my 1747 was a breeze (with the newmodeus HD caddy). Just make sure the HDD is 9.5mm thick or less. I put in a Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 which is a nice drive

I too am looking to add a 2nd hard drive to my 1749. I do have a bay for a
2nd internal hard drive. I looked at the youtube video which is pretty strait forward and simplistic.
But after the installation am I going to need to configure RAID? If so which one? And if so I need directions on how to do that.
Will the new hard drive need to be formated and/or partitioned?
IF so will someone please give directions or post a link to these directions?
If I do not need to do anything after instalation please tell me if that is so. -
Hey Kaju. Don't know anything about RAID, I've a feeling it may not be supported on the Studio 17's anyhow. Anyway, you don't need to worry about it unless you want to.
Just stick the drive in as per the instructions in the video. If you've followed these properly you'll need to stick the battery back in ('cos you took it out, right, before opening up the back of the machine), then just turn on the machine. It will find the new drive and load the drivers for it so just wait till windows is up and running and it's just sitting there waiting for you to do more.
Does the new drive need formatting? Yes
Does it need partitioning? only if you want partitions (do you need em?)
I formatted using Windows7 Computer Management/Disk Manager. It's easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy
Here's how for Windows 7

Make sure you format NTFS - I just used the default settings for other stuff. Have fun filling your new drive -
