I bought a studio 1749 from the dell outlet. Before I did I read many reviews that the outlet products were good quality. The laptop I bought would have cost me 1000+ but with the 15% discount i got it for 680.

My question is the battery is not snug. It is slightly loose. Not real bad but enough that I notice it. Is this normal because the battery is large? If not could this be a problem waiting to happen?

any insight would be great. Thanks in advance as I have to get to bed. I will check in the morning.

How loose is "slightly loose"? If you ask me, if it's loose enough to the point that you can hear/feel it move when you shake the laptop, then it's too loose and you should contact Dell to see if they can do anything about it. Even then, it's probably not a critical issue and not something you should worry about...

Does it lock in? If the latch doesn't slide all the way over, I'd be concerned. Otherwise, grab a piece of cardstock or heavy paper, fold it over, and shim it so it doesn't move, and forget about it.

Thanks It is not very loose. One part is longer and it barely moves. I am just anal about things. It locks into place.

Does anyone know how long the 9-cell battery lasts on the 1749? I know it depends on my display and hardware, but I figure there has to be at least a ballpark figure from other people who have used the 1749 for a month or two.
