I have a Dell Studio 1747 from a few years back that I put a refurbished motherboard in, but It looks like i may have put in the Mobo for a 1745 in it accidently. This was before I knew much about repairing laptops. I have been looking at it lately trying to get it running properly again and I found this forum:

    Studio 1745 Motherboard Swap
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19388018

The issue is, when I turn the laptop on, it goes to the "start windows repair/start normally" screen. I can eventually get to my desktop after a few startups by choosing start normally. At first I thought it was a harddrive/OS, so i tried a second one, and I got the same results. Thats about when i gave up the last time, moved on, and built a desktop.

I'm thinking that maybe this Mobo is missing a chip(s) that I need, or maybe i was right the first time and my refurbished mobo is crap. thoughts? So do I have a bad mobo? an incompatible mobo (do I have to have a 1747 only)? Anyone have experience with refubished mobos not working correctly?
