I'm not really sure why this is happening, as my laptop doesn't endure much physical moving or anything. I noticed over the past week or so that my lid was feeling quite flimsy. Even after setting it's position, it had a lot of wiggle room, which I found odd. Today I opened it and heard a pop. I lifted the side and saw that the hinge with the power button is actually separating. I am able to snap the two pieces back together, but doing so makes me nervous since the casing is just plastic and I don't want any cracking. Even when I put it back together, opening and closing it just results in it opening again. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I figured that the casing wasn't too solid when I got it, but I never expected it to start falling apart on me. I've attached an image.

So snap it back into place, I dropped my 1737. Those exact seems opened up way wide, plus the other seems shown.

All I did was snap them back down thats how they fit.

I go over my 1737 pressing all the seems once per week, the lid is wobbly buts thats how its designed with some flex.

Hey, this problem happened to me as well. It happened on the left side/wifi button area for me. It was only moved and used very mildly and on flat areas mostly. I don't know why this happened and it has only gotten worse-even though I've tried leaving it open, never moving the screen, etc. Basically, I've learned that Dell is now crap. I read that the hinges cost around $50-75 plus labor. That's a lot for a struggling college student!
