I am also struggling with the drivers for XP 64 bit.

The 1394 adapter has a bang on it. I think I found a driver for it
today but can't test it till I get home.

    Nothing for the infrared port?

Also the bluetooth but again..I think I found a driver but can't test it until
    I get home.

    Most everything else seems okay.

If I can't find an infrared driver I'll switch back to Vista. Gotta
    have my remote working.

    gingerone,

I really need a copy of the drivers in the zip file you created. you can get free hosting (without ads) at 000webhost.com. Creating an account is virually instant and you can upload via an FTP to a Free account with a subdomain.

    Thanks

Didn't read the entire thread, I take it? You'll see why he didn't bother to go through with uploading his drivers.

First of all, my undying gratitude to all on this thread for all the hard work done - and for making me feel reassured that I'm not alone in running kicking and screaming from Vista on my Studio 1735.

After some slight hiccoughs, the XP installation worked a treat. Now it's just a matter of tweaking and tracking any drivers that are still missing.

One of my problems is the WiFi - so a question to eaferrari24. Based on these postings:

.... you managed to finally get the device recognised. But what exactly did you do in the BIOS? I'm in exactly the same position and I looked at the BIOS and it appeared that the Wireless was enabled. But the Device Manager still can't see it. I suspect I'm a bit of a dunce, so I'm clearly missing something obvious.

    Cheers

    Michael

A very big thankyou to everyone on this forum!

A summary of several posts which will hopefully help anyone else who comes here.

A mate presented me with a 1735 fresh from eBay with Windows7 beta as the only OS. It was working fine but would expire soon so I was asked to put XP on it. I had told him to buy something that had been sold with XP on it, but he didn't listen. Without you lot, my weekend would have been miserable..!

As it is, we now have a 1735 running stably on XP, with only the following items not working:

    1) Media buttons are not permanently lit, maybe they're not supposed to, I've never seen one running on Vista.

    2) Standalone MediaDirect function doesn't work, it just gives the splash screen then boots XP.

    3) Quickstep. No sign of that at all! I only know we're missing it because several people have mentioned it in this thread...

    4) Infrared doesn't work, and we don't care. Managed to get it to appear in control panel as "wireless link" by using "add hardware" in control panel, but it doesn't actually work. Tried installing all the different IR devices that XP supports but no joy. Like I said, we don't care...

I started with all the downloads supplied by GingerOne at the beginning of the thread:

    http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/

I installed them all in the order that they appear in the list, apart from starting with the NIC to get an internet connection going. There is a query about whether that Graphics driver is ok with BluRay, we haven't got it on this machine so can't comment on that, but that driver works fine for us and seems to be completely stable. We don't have the Fingerprint Reader either, so can't help with that.
I ended up with 2 question marks in Device Manager, "Unknown Device" & "Network Controller."
The Unknown Device turned out to be the IR, I must've managed to download it and not install it, comes of doing things at 3am... The other one was the WiFi. Both the WiFi related drivers had installed fine, and I'd redone them several times to no avail. Elsewhere in the forum XPON 1735 found this:

    http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R189133&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=259099

Which is the XP driver for the same card used in another Dell machine, and it works perfectly.

    Other problems mentioned:
Someone had trouble with wifi and found that it had disabled itself in the BIOS, stayed on once corrected.
One user reports max 2GB USB stick, this one is fine with a 4GB Corsair one.
There is a complaint of bad sound. Sound is average on this machine, never heard it on Vista or Windows7, but the speakers are clearly nothing special so I don't think that he has a driver problem, just too high expectations..!

The download for "Unknow audio device" unzips as two folders. Note that the second one is an empty folder, but it's name is an instruction for youy to follow.
I have had to install some of the drivers more than once as there is usually a correct order, and you are unlikely to find it by accident, but keep referring back to "Device Managre" until all your yellow question marks have gone and you should have a usable 1735 on XP. There is a suggested installation order on the Dell Vista driver downloads page, but I didn't find that 'till I'd finished:

    http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/driver_install_order?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~lt=print

Thanks to everyone once again, hope someone finds this summary useful.

    Regards, Mr Ed.

So I've gotten everything to work in Studio 1735 except for the graphics...I've tried the drivers included here: http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/

Apparently I can't install it due to the included chipset as well. Any help?

Sorry, my post was in reference to this.
did you succeed? You will have to modify SATA option in bios to the one other than default for install to proceed.

If you're talking to me, then no. I'm using a Dell laptop, the model is a Studio 1735. My problem is the drivers here: http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/

Either I'm not installing them correctly or they're wrong.

Here's a run down of what actually works:

This chipset driver installs, but it isn't recognized.

First wanted to say hi & BIG thanks to all who posted and replied here. I'm new in this forum, but i found it amazingly helpful for me. As many of us here my notebook is Dell Studio 1735 (Core2Duo) with ATI Radeon 3650 and it came with win vista (the worst OS i've ever tried before  ). After reading yours posts guys i decided to took some actions in order to get rid of win ***ta. First, in order to save my time i downloaded as many drivers for Windows XP as i could find.
    Websites i used:
    http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/ ,
    and japanese site
    http://driver.zol.com.cn/list.php?ke...nelid=&x=0&y=0
many of those drivers work for others, but i had my own problems. After installing fresh copy of win XP (don't forget to turn to ATA from AHCI in BIOS ) i started to install drivers i've downloaded and it went quite nice. After many rr last thing that didn't work was the Wireless LAN and Bluetooth device. Thanks to xpon1735 and his threads i found this website:
http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R189133&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=259099 my Wireless LAN is working perfectly. Only prob I still have is Bluetooth device. :D If anyone finds out how to fix this, reply, or e-mail me directly pls. :)

Thanks a lot, for all your effort

    Hi,

I was so happy I found this thread. I've wanted to get XP Pro x64
    running on my Studio 17

My only difference is I have a Studio 1737
It is more or less the same as the 1735 with a
    T9550 2.66Ghz 1066Mhz FSB CPU & 8GB's of DDR2 800Mhz... :D
I think the Intel chipset, the PM38, is covered under the same
    driver matrix.

I'm having a problem accessing the link:
    http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/
for the driver set, originally posted. Is it still functional?

    Thanks,

    Dejavu

    Dellness,
I have all the drivers you might need, but can't find a good upload sight. Do you know of any that will hold a zipped 575mb file? This includes the download of Wug's drivers, and mine as well.

Why not break the zip file into 100MB files and upload them separately. Not much hassle, and it means you can still use the free hosting sites.

The only method that I know how to transmit large files on the internet is this one: www.transfer.ro
It works even with packages up to 1Gb :D

You upload the package to their server and then , they send a link to e-mails that u`ve inserted in the formular.

    It`s very simple.

Sorry but I don`t know other way to do it quick and free.

The other solution with free download and stuff..is not so ok because you have to have dinamic IP or route yourself to cheat (they don`t let you to download more than 2 chunks)

So if that method it`s convinient for you, I`m waiting for the mail from transfer.ro

    My mail is [email protected]

I made an Image of my hard drive after installing XP, and BEFORE adding drivers. If one didn't work, then I quickly restored the image, and then tried others. ;)

Tell me the specks of your Studio 1737. (If you already posted, then I apologize for not looking thoroughly) Which Wireless adapter do you have? I have a great one for the Intel WiFi 5100. The speed tests at www.speakeasy.net worked great at 10mb download speeds. Got the same download with the Broadband ethernet connection as well.

Tried the sight, but can't read the language. I'll try different places, and will post them soon for you. I definitely know how it feels to be looking for XP Pro drivers, and pulling your hair out. :swoon:

    Me again, hi there

I`ve downloaded all the archives from above and extracted all to my computer

In the first place...It`s asking me for a password
And in the second place, the final result of the drivers`s package is with a lot of errors (for example the chipset driver: "eror: it`s not a valid win32 aplication..)

Can somebody teach me how to put them together to not encounter these errors?

    All the best

Dellness, can you post your system specs? Video? Sound? Wireless? and etc.

I don't understand why any of these would ask for a password. Not one of them asked me for one at all. The chipset drivers that worked for my Studio 1737 Laptop ...came directly from Dell support download sight. This chipset works with XP and Vista.

I usually install in this order: Chipset drivers, Video, Sound, Broadband, Wireless,... and then other needed drivers.

My main focus was the ATI 3650 512mb graphics card, and the IDT audio drivers. I specifically focused on those two first and foremost. I've succeeded in getting them to work, and will give them to you IF you have that card.
With the added SRS Audio Sandbox program installed as well...the audio sounds like a Creative Soundblaster now. No complaints at all when listening to music. Any of you can have this very cool program. What a difference it makes. Get it here. http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/15/2051089/SRS Audio Sandbox 1.9.0.4.zip

By the way, if you did purchased the Creative Soundblaster X-FI MB card like I did, then you won't be able to install the software from Creative on XP. However, I tinkered with it awhile, and could install the updates from Creative, but the Equalizer doesn't work. The audio sounded dull until I installed the SRS program above. Now, it sounds awesome with crispy highs.

I`ve downloaded the package, only the site don`t let me download more than 250 Mb..so the archieve is uncomplete
    :(

Don`t know what advice to give you

I`d like if it`s possible that you give me your e-mail or Yahoo Messenger ID or Skype ID to chat to you and show how you do it with www.transfer.ro (it`s just piece of cake) don`t worry about the language :p

Waitting for a asap answer from you

Hi all. I have purchased a Dell Studio 1735 and as others in this forum, I removed VISTA and am in the process of installing WINXP. I need the complete set of drivers, but am having trouble getting them, as the links are old and some do not work. Can anyone please direct me to a link with the "Complete Set"? Thanks in advance.

Hope that link helps. I posted these on Fileden, so they all should be active links. I was able to get XP_Pro_SP3 installed on the 1737 ...except for the 1394 issue. I think that's related to the Firewire...which is something you really don't need because USB is the dominant choice. Your 1735 may have different components. I did return the 1737 months ago, and have recently purchased the 1745...which I'll be getting soon. Once I get it, I'll be keeping the thread above updated.

Hello, I know this is a 2 year old plus forum post but I rebuilt my old Dell 1735 with XP and I cannot find the HD Audio drivers anywhere online anymore. It seems that all of the links posted are no longer viable. Does anyone have the Audio driver? or a link to the complete set that still works.? Please email me at [email protected] if you do so I can work out a way to get them from you. Any help would be appreciated. thank you
