Can anyone tell me, if they have eared that static may cause (crackling and popping sound) while listening to an Audio CD or MP3 music from the HD? I ask because I have to determine if that annoying problem is a hardware, software or static problem with my Dell Studio 1735. Last week Dell change my DVD-/+RW burner because it stop turning twice while the head try to read data. But before the change it did played music CD with that snap crackle and pop sound like I was listening to vinyl disk, if some one did witness that sound issues. Your help is welcome ! Because the way thing are going, I think I have a LEMON for a laptop.

Does this only happen on the laptop's own speakers, or does it happen with headphones or external speakers as well?

both the studio models the 1735 and 1737 are known for their internal speakers to crackle or pop a lil at high volumes. just use external speakers or headphones. if its not the internal speakers, try cleaning out the audio jack or the speakers/headphone's jack

First thing I'd suggest is making sure your drivers are up to date, pop along to the Dell website, select support, then drivers, find your model and download the latest audio drivers.

Fixed a problem on my Inspiron. Might work for you, might not, but it's one of the first things Dell tech support will get you to do anyway.

Hi, I was told to check the Dell Community section on Dell, and I see that I'm not the only one that does have those audio problems. And they all gave different solution from turning off the finger print reader, changing IRQ to updating drivers. one of the last time I ask a Tech from Dell he told me that was static, and I had to turn off the laptop, remove the batt, and press the ON switch for 30 sec. Now If I go with drivers updates, I noticed that the listing of my hardware is different from was is on my TAG support. meanning that I can't use any of the drivers offered on the web site, and if I want to update any drivers and firmware I have to spit out $250.00 for software service contract ?!?!? in order to solve my audio problem. Now if I want to solve the problem alone, I would have to turn off the Bluetooth, wifi, finger print reader and change the IRQ of the HD in order to avoir conflic with the audio card. Not bad for options that cost a lot of $$$ Now I know I selected the lemon laptop.
