I have a Dell Studio 17 that is getting no video. There is no Dell splash screen when it is turned on either so its not like the video driver went bad or something. I have tried turning it on without the battery and I have tried connecting it to an external monitor with both VGA and HDMI and am getting no video.

    Any ideas?

Does it show a really faint screen image.Like you can see it just alittle when you get really close to it.

You already tried a external monitor so the next thing would be a loose cable connection.Id check that and then go from there.

Yeah, I just opened it up and looked at the connections. Everything seems solid. It shows nothing. You don't even get LCD power.

Do you think Fry's Electronics can diagnose something like this with any tools, like to see if the motherboard or video card is having problems?

Sounds like the Video card may have went and that is mostlikely embedded into the motherboard.

As for Frys I dont know.I have never been to one (none around here)

I would call before taking it though.
