Hi, I´ve got a Dell Studio 17 laptop with i5 processor for a few months, and I have two questions/problems:

    1. Sometimes when I turn on my laptop and log in, it automatically switches off. After that it turns on automatically. Why is this, and is it normal? Because on other laptops I didn't have this problem.

    2. Yesterday I turned on my laptop, and the screen becomes white. After this the screen turned red, then green, then red, then blue and white again. This repeated a few times, and after that my laptop switched off. When I turned it back on it started normally. Does anyone know what this means? It was really weird.

    Thanks. :)

I think it means it's time to contact Dell for a replacement or refund.

Do you have any peripherals connected? I've had a couple of blue-screens on startup recently and it seems to be due to an external HDD (WD book) connected via the eSata port. If I unplug the HDD there are no problems. Just a thought...

No, I´ve got no external things connected to my laptop. Then I guess I will ask Dell for a refund (if that´s possible), and otherwise a replacement. If they will give me a refund I´m thinking about buying the same laptop with a better video card, because I think I´ll need that if I want to play the newest games.

Have you tried installing the latest BIOS update? Worth doing so if not.
