Okay, I need some help. I caved in and went ahead to buy a Dell Studio 17 over the HP DV7t. Mainly because the Dell has the backlit keyboard, LED screen, and slot-load drive that HP doesn't have.

My concern is that I placed my order on 8/23/08 in the early morning and I have only received an "Order Acknowledged" e-mail. I have been checking my Dell account for any changes in my order history and my Studio 17 still doesn't show up. When I got my Dell Inspiron 1525 about 2 1/2 months ago, it showed up very fast in my order history and got an "Order Confirmed" e-mail quicky.

Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on? I called Dell, and they can't help me because I have not yet been issued an order number :(.

One other thing that is bothering me ... Does anyone know that if Dell is overwhelmed/overloaded with orders, laptop quality is potential for being more defective to push as many notebooks out the door than the slow season?

according to the big delays people are getting lately, I don't think they're pushing orders.
mine took 3 weeks from the day the credit card was authorized.

It seems to take awhile when you order on weekends. I dont think they work on weekends. Wait til Monday and you will get more information.

Yeah, I ordered on the 22nd (Friday) and my order no. only came in yesterday (sat). Plus it's the weekend, as mentioned.

I ordered mine on 8/8 and it's not expected to ship until 9/9. I was told by someone when I called in that there is a delay on the backlit keyboards and the color cases for the Studio 17s. They don't anticipate mine being shipped before the ESD.

My roommate had a similar problem. It turned out that the bank had rejected the charge because it was unusually large. He actually had to cancel his Dell order and place it again after calling the bank for authorization. I don't know if this is your problem, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

BTW, I ordered my Studio 17 on 8/2 and got a ship date of 9/2, but it shipped early and arrived on Friday.
