Of course you think it's perfect out-of-the box, but as time progresses you start to notice the small imperfections. I only have a few issues with my Studio 1737, but this is one of them. If I am playing music, say from iTunes or the Zune Software, and I try to eject a CD or DVD, the audio will skip or stutter for about two seconds. This happens without fail, %100 of the time. Am I the only one experiencing this, or is it something that I will have to deal with? It really is not major since I rarely have a DVD or CD to eject, since my music is on harddrive already, but I noticed it when I ripped a DVD for my Zune. Thanks for any replies :).

Sounds like an issue with the software player? or some software thats loaded that is taking high priority cpu time when the drive is ejected, most likely sensing a new disc when it is closed.

The XPS M1330 and M1530 had this same problem and it was fixed with a BIOS upgrade on those systems. I would suggest contacting Dell and reporting the problem.

it is no problem for me, and I recognize it as something normal!
May be it is something like "protect function" - the notebook freezes the sound and everything for clear DVD/CD eject!
Anyway 2 second sound freeze only when I hit eject button - is not big deal for me!

ejecting a disc shouldn't interrupt the audio on a machine like this, sounds like a motherboard issue, hopefully they'll update the BIOS.

I have this EXACT same problem.

yes its minor we can all see that.

But to DELL they don't know any better you just have to tell them, My 1737 is not Functioning properly, and they have to fix it.

I will keep this in my back pocket so after April 2009 1737 gets Refreshed hopefully they can swap it out for a new one, with DDR3 RAM.

Its one of those things thats not "normal" nor is it easily fixed. Just installing new Drivers won't fix it I tried.

My guess is thats how its supposed to be but its vauge enough for DELL to issue a replacement.

Also could be indicative of deeper problems

I will wait patiently till April 2009

see what the new Studio 17's have.

I can't see Dell replacing a 6 month old laptop with a new and better model because of cracking speakers, sorry.

no the audio stops functioning for a few seconds when you eject a cd or dvd, also happens even when you hit eject and theres no disk in the drive.

My thoughts exactly. I've used much weaker systems that don't have this issue.

Exactly, I have like an old Celeron 7 or 8 years old and I can take out CD's and DVD's and It does not stutter or stop audio play back.

This is a huge gravedig, and I'm sorry, but for anyone still experiencing this issue, new drivers were released for CD/DVD drives. Mine, the TSST TS-T633A 12.7mm Slotload 8x DVDRW, was just released on August 4th. If you haven't updated then you should. My drive's functionality is so much better. It's extremely quiet when playing DVDs and CDs minus the noises while inserting and ejecting discs (which does not cause audio to skip anymore).
