Dell Studio 15Z Shipping Delays

My sister-in-law ordered a new Studio 15Z online from Dell in late June. It was an updated machine from what was being offered thru Best Buy, it has the I5-480M with a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570. This was a coupon special for $280 off bringing it down to $599.00 which is a very good price for the computer. It was originally supposed to ship the first week in July. Today she said they called and said delivery is delayed until later this month. But in order to compensate for it Dell will ship the computer over night.

It's funny because they called her the day before it was supposed to ship and told her it would ship the next day. Then when she checked the order status onliine the next day, it says that shipping is delayed until later this month.

These employees are unable to tell her what parts are back ordered. I know that some of this may be because of the recent disaster in Japan. Is anyone else experiencing delayed shipping on new Dell laptops, and have any idea of what parts they are waiting for.

Now my other question is, what are the chances that shipping gets delayed again?

Does anyone know where these laptops are being assembled? I hear Nashville, TN area, to China, and Malasia. Just wondering were this stuff it being assembled.
