What I found quite interesting in the cnet review is that their performance testing of the Dell 1569 was second place just behind the Toshiba E205-S1904 (the other Best Buy Blue Label). I do not understand why, the specs are basically the exact same specs, EXCEPT our Dell has a 500gb 7,200rpm hard drive while the Toshiba has a 500gb 5,400 rpm hard drive. I would think, if anything our performance would be slightly better than the Toshiba because of our 7,200rpm hard drive. All the other specs are the same.
So, with that being said, why did the Toshiba have slightly better performance numbers than ours, since as I keep stating all the specs are the same except we have a faster hard drive?

The performance difference is most likely due to software. The Toshiba likely has less junk pre-installed or updated drivers or a combination of both. I would be interested to see their testing methodology. In a perfect world they would do a clean install and updated drivers.
As you said the hardware is similar except the slightly faster HD on the Dell so it should be a touch faster, and I agree. -
True, but the bad news is, I did a little research on the 7200rpm hard drive this Dell comes with (Seagate) and it is very prone to failure from customer reviews. I guess I have something not to look forward to and that is reliability.

If you can go for the Western Digital Hard drives.
Fast and reliable. If not then just replace the hard drives when you get the laptop.
Lol. I just googled Seagate and there is a whole host of people complaining about hard drive failure, especially with the Barracuda's .... -
Till date I have only used Seagate HDDs and never ever had any issue with the HDDs -
