Was listening radio online....Suddenly Hazy Screen and noises...After that System restarted with thick vertical Stripes, unable to see properly what is going on in screen. Tried to use Dell diagnostic utility..some beep sound and short music came intermittently but unable to see what is message on screen..
Bios is also not visible properly. Dell logo is coming like as we get poor video quality as in old days B/W televisions.

I have some snapshots. it might help in resolving the issue...
    Thanks in advance... :)

Last image looked like there was some error message of window crash..similar to we get in blue screen error...

    Please Help me out..... :(

it looks like your LCD display is crapped,

Can u test on an external monitor

You can also try reseating the video cable

With the notebook shut down (not hibernated / standby / etc.) press and hold the keyboard D key while pressing the power button to turn the PC on. You should get a series of solid color screens and then the display will go blank.

If that test passes, the issue is probably on the mainboard or possibly on the cable between the mainboard and the display. If that test also fails, the error is probably in the LCD panel itself. Try to remember if there were any recent stresses to the lid.

I am having exactly the same problem. Every time i run diagnostics when i boot laptop, it's fixing screen corruption for a while but couple days later causing the same problem again. Did you find a solution yet?

    Hello BLGupta,

My name is Anue and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

As you confirm that the issue is still persists, you could also try updating the video drivers and as suggested above try running the diagnostics. If you are unable to run the diagnostics,
, you could try connecting your laptop to an external monitor/screen and do check if the display is fine on the external monitor.

If the display is fine on the external monitor, it confirms that the issue is related to the display card, which is on the Motherboard.

Please click on the below link , it would take you to a page, which has the instructions to the diagnostics.

Pre-Boot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics and Error Codes For Dell Computers | Dell UK

The link below has all details for the Video driver. You could choose the appropriate driver and trying updating the same.

Kindly revert with the results, we would be more than glad to assist you.

    Thanks,

I have the exact same problem with my dell studio 1558. Now the laptop screen is just always black..nothing shows up. When I connect it to my TV using a VGA cable, the thick stripes appear. And when it is just about to load the login screen where I need to enter my windows profile password, the TV screen is completely covered in stripes. So i cant login. I am able to login in safe mode though since a little of the TV screen is visible between the stripes.

Pretty sure either the VRAM or dGPU or it's surrounding circuitry is fried if you have the same output problem on an external screen.. There are 3 solutions to your problem.
    1. Buy a new laptop
    2. Replace the motherboard since the gpu is integrated in there.
    3. Try baking the board in the oven, you can use Google to find further instructions on this and post here if you have any further questions.

Unless you have an Intel HD GPU and not an ATI/AMD mobility 4570/5470.. then ignore this post :D

    Hi Terry,
I am facing a similar problem. My screen stays completely black when I turn on my laptop (I can still hear the fan and other stuff). I performed the test and I can see the solid color screens. Is there a way to get the laptop working again? And if not, what is the best way to recover all my stuff from the laptop?

    Thanks
