I have a Dell Studio 1558. I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8.1, around 2 weeks ago and since then it stopped detecting only my home wifi. The wifi adapter is working and detecting all other wifis in the area - like my neighbour's or my phone tethered nw - but it simply doesn't detect my own home network. It was detecting the network before I upgraded to windows 8.1..
I've tried everything from uninstalling the 2 network adapters in Device Manager to reinstalling Windows 8.1 etc but nothing works. It just does not detect my home wifi signal...

PLEASE HELP ME - I'm on the verge of throwing the machine out of window now...

Have you tried checking if other devices are detecting your home wifi? Perhaps your home wifi router has crashed.
