    Hi Everyone,

I have the terrible misfortune of owning a Dell Machine, specifically the Dell Studio 1557. After many problems I have decided to restore the Dell Factory Image from the Recovery Partition, unfortunately I do not have the Original Discs so have followed the instructions outlined on the Dell Website for this so-called product:

Windows 7 PC Restore | Dell

When I press F8 to access the Advanced Boot Options the system states that Configuation files are being loaded and then gives me the Advanced Boot Menu. When I choose the "Repair Your Computer" option the system cycles to a menu to choose an OS:

    Windows 7
    Microsoft Windows 7 (Default OS)

Selecting either of these two options (obviously) takes me to my Windows 7 OS and I cannot access the "Dell Factory Image Restore". When I reboot, the same thing happens if I press the F8 key.

Can anybody advise on I can restore the Factory Image?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

To restore the system to factory image in Windows 7 follow these steps:
    1. Restart your computer, press the F8 key for couple of times at Dell logo to access "Windows Advanced Boot Options."
    2. From Windows Advanced Boot Options select the option "Repair My Computer"
    3. You will get a screen that says choose the “Country and Keyboard layout” – Choose “US” – “English”
    4. On the next page you will see “System Recover Options" which will list all the User Accounts on his computer.
    5. Once you click on the User Account you would get a WinRE window which will list following options:
    A. System Repair
    B. System Restore
    C. Windows Complete PC Restore
    D. Windows Memory Diagnostic tool
    E. Command Prompt
    F. Dell Factory Image Restore or dell data safe and emergency back-up
    6. Step 6 : After getting to system recovery options click on 6th (last) option - 'Dell data safe and emergency back-up' and wait for few seconds for next screen.
    7. Step 7: On next screen, click on 2nd option – ‘Select other system and more options’.
    8. Step 8: On next screen, click on 2nd option – ‘Restore my computer’.
    9. Step 9: On next screen highlight the option ‘Factory image’ and then click on ‘next’.
    10. Step 5: On next screen click on 2nd option – ‘Restore without preserving new or changed files’.
    11. Step 6: Click on – ‘Yes’
