    Hey guys,
So I don't have much time before I can return my Dell which came in 10 days ago. Now I am hearing all sorts of bad stories about Dell Studio 1555 heat issues: touchpad getting hot(which I noticed too), and temperatures reaching HUGE figures..
I tried getting my GPU temperature because I believe that gets hot as hell more than anything else. HWmonitor and GPU-Z both failed to get me the temperatures. I guess the ATI 4570's too new. I am not even doing any CPU intense work and CPU's at 55C. I wonder what must happen when I play Far Cry 2. I must admit: its a beast of a laptop for the money but what's the point if its going to meltdown soon?! Should I consider returning the Dell? Though I'm sure they won't take it back easily(stupid Canadian dell).

Another question: And this is important if I stick with this Dell. I read somewhere that any driver after the 8.5 version (from dell) is better. Where can I find these drivers? Are they risk-free since Dell is not distributing it?

I realize 55C is nothing, but compared to my latitude(also Core 2 Duo), this is atleast 10C more than what I had. And my laptop's pretty much idle.. Only MSN messenger running in the background. Should I blame Vista like I do for everything? :D

I looked at the other thread and Fragile suggested Everest can tell me my GPU temp. I downloaded it and looked at all the pages.. no luck

try CPUZ, use the last tab, generate a text report, and that will create a notepad file, which when you scroll down will list all of the current Temps on your machine, including the GPU temp.

Go to amd.com, download the latest ATi Catalyst drivers for the desktop version of the 4570, download Mobility Modder, mod the driver, and install.
