Dell Studio 1555 Shipping (Ireland)

First of all but Ireland into brackets for the benefit of people searching..

Order Date: 05/09/2009

I ordered the machine early on the 5th,Around 8:30am

I received a call from Dell's centre just verifying contact details etc that was about midday

Around 3:40pm the I received the confirmation email and checked the status,

It was showing as "Pre-Production"

About 9:30pm that night it changed to Production and has been there now for about 28 hours

The machine I ordered was the €579 on the Dell Ireland site and I just added the back lit keyboard..

I'll keep you people posted

Good news,As of twenty mins ago my status has changed twice!

Preparing for shipment:Tuesday 08/09/2009 @1:50 pm

Dispatched:Tuesday 08/09/2009 @2:08 pm

 

Good to hear yours has shipped.

Now the long wait for tracking (if it appears)

I had to ring them in the end and its coming tomorrow

 

On the dell site here,It says you won't be able to track the device

So I'll just have to wait patiently for the phone to ring..

Yes. Slightly annoyed I had to ring to find out the delivery though.

If I hadn't rung I probably wouldn't have known...

 

I've contacted dell this morning and it is already being shipped but i'm not 100% sure where it's coming from!My order status still says :Status of delivery: Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly.

 

Today there is nothing new about the shipping,Order status still saying the same,Invoice arrived to my email inbox today,Saying "If you haven't received delivery of your Dell order yet, please go to : www.dell.ie/orderstatus to check the progress."

So i'm hopeful it might be here this week

 

I spoke to Dell on Friday and it's coming from China,EDD is this Thursday and according to people i know,It takes 2-5 working days to get a delivery from dell..

Maybe Monday or Tuesday

 

It may arrive Thursday as that is the EDD.

It all depends on the speed of Dell...

 

in US usually it comes to local dell warehouse and then it comes from there. Mine was manufactured in china. It was in boxing stage for 3 days, and then shipping was from a city in Nevada. It took 2 days for it to be delivered.

 

That's my issue,I have to be about 100 miles from my House for the whole day Thursday cause of college Registration!An i've given them my mobile number which will probably have to be on silent

Ah it seems to work different here,My packing was like 10 mins and then it was Dispatched..Mine is already with the Courier when it got shipped from China,And when it lands in Ireland they just dispatch it to a local DPD(my courier) depot..

Seems like it won't be here today as they courier usally does his rounds here before mid day and it's now 1:30

All i can do is wait

 

Another update: No sign again today,It's quite annoying getting no tracking number from dell as I'd at least be able to check if it's in the country,Be it on it's way or at the the other of the country..

 

As for tracking numbers, mine doesn't work even now after I have got the lappy...

 

Hi all,

Newbie here, also waiting on my new Studio 1555.

My status moved to Delivery on Saturday, and I'd like to contact Dell or Walsh western to get an ETA on delivery. (My husband and myself both work jobs which make it very awkward to just take a half day off to sit in and wait for a courier to come)

Does anyone have a number?

Have now called and it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow am, which is great.

What is not so great is that there won't be anyone home, and it'll be Friday pm before anyone can be home for re-delivery.

However, that does mean a whole weekend to get to know my new machine!

Same thing with me, Dell would probably never have rung me so good thing I rang.

 

Very good thing I rang!

Despite having been told by Dell that they could only deliver to the order address and I would have to re-schedule delivery, I took the chance of leaving the courier a note asking them to leave it next door.

He very kindly did so and left me a voicemail telling me so.

I am now typing on my very lovely new lapty-top (although I think I am going to do a fresh install tonight to get rid of all the extraneous rubbish)
