I was so looking forward to buying a Dell Studio 1555 in a Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish. But only the Black Chainlink is available. I personally think that the Black Chainlink is UGLY. I think im gonna cry... Lol

Maybe I should just go for the Inspiron 15...
What do you guys think? :D

This is my dilemma also. I'm guessing it's cheaper to produce the glossy finish which is why so many manufacturers are going with it, but it's a huge turnoff to me.

    It is a tragedy...... :err:

Sorry but I prefer the glossy finish, it looks much more expensive. The matte finish reminds me some low quality brand laptops such as Advent and Packard Bell.

Completely agree regarding black chainlink. I ordered my laptop thinking chainlink was a type of black, had to cancel the order. I went with midnight blue. It's a shame they don't offer jetblack.

Advent, low quality? I have an old Advent 9215 that still runs and has absolutely no damage except a few shiny keys on the keyboard where I've used it so much. I would actually say that Advent feels more sturdy than a Studio I was playing with in a retail outlet today.

In comparison to that Advent, my previous Sony had it's optical device replaced due to wear, a new keyboard fitted (because it broke) and a replacement battery ordered after only a year and a half.

They are budget, but that doesn't always mean low quality. Sometimes you pay your budget money but come out on top, even with a lesser known brand.
