    Hello,

I have Dell Studio 1537 laptop which is out of warranty. I decided to upgrade my CPU from T5800 to T7500.

When I started laptop after upgrade a message appear: "no microcode update loaded for booting processor" and I have 2 choices (press F1 to continue and press F2 to enter BIOS).

When I press F1 laptop loads and works. The only problem I see now is that CapsLock and NumLk lights does not appear when I press the buttons.

    Thats all. Please Help.

    Regards,

    Sv

I presume the original CPU still works fine? I'm just rambling here, but...

I've seen a similar issue with the other Dells of the same generation: all E6x00 series Latitudes will technically work with Merom CPUs, but give that same "error" message. All E5x00 series Latitudes will technically work with all Merom CPUs, but will give the "error" with 4MB L2 Meroms (T7300, etc).

I'm assuming what's happening with the 1537 is similar to what happens with the E5x00 series in that it won't "recognize" any Merom CPU with which it didn't ship. I do not think there is a fix other than using a Penryn CPU or a stock Metom. Do tell if you find a fix, though.

I thing that Studio 1537 recognize only CPUs with which it is designed to sell:
    T3400
    T9400
    T6600
    T3200
    T5800
    T5900
Any way if some one find a way to solve this issue please write it.
