This laptop has started overheating and shutting off, it first started having problems with the unit getting hot after watching videos but after a while it started shutting down when just browsing the net or whatever so nothing video related I think? I first used compressed air to blow out the fan and vent then ran the unit's Diagnostics expecially on the fan, RAM, HDD, Video, CPU and Mobo, all checked out ok. I am thinking of running a stress test but worried if that may do any damage?

There comes a time in every laptop when you really either need to get it professionally cleaned if your not comfortable taking it apart,

or if your OK taking it apart, then open it up, remove the clean the fans, clean the fins on the heat pipes,

and at that time I suggest a fresh application of thermal paste on the GPU and CPU.

If your under warranty call Dell and have them service it.

The fan is either dead or it is plugged up with dust.
