    Good Sunday Folks:

My apologies if this is the incorrect forum. I did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate a month ago and everything is running well. However, I've noticed in Device Manager that there is an unidentified base device which is lacking a driver. Here is the info:

    Device Type: other devices
    Manufacturer: unknown
Location: PCI bus 9, device 1, function 3
    Device Status:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

Updating the driver through both the internet and searching through my computer has not found a driver. Any ideas on what the issue might be?

Usually a card reader or remote, or some other small hardware device.

I had the same issue, I think it turned out to be a RICOH card reader or something.

See the link the Dell Support people gave on page 2 of this thread (ignore the comments about bluetooth, I was way off base at first)

Thanks Todd, much appreciated. Btw, do you have a Studio 1537 and if so, did you ever manage to get Digital persona fingerprint software to work with Win7?

Don't forget to install the driver for the touchpad!
My girlfriend has a Studio 1537 and I installed Win7 32bit some weeks ago. Everything was fine, no unidentified devices in the Device Manager.

But my girlfriend was complaining that in Word 2007 the cursors jumps to different lines while she was writing.
The reason was the touchpad driver that Windows used automatically. I installed the driver from the Dell homepage and the Word 2007 problems are gone now.

Kind of unrelated, but I just faced the same issue on my Studio 14z, turned out to be a chipset driver.
