    Dell Studio 1537 Volume Down Button Blinking, No Boot !

    I'm fixing my gf studio 1537.

    I have recently replaced lcd inverter because it had a burned short spot on it.

    Now, when I power up the notebook, I hear CD drive loading, media buttons flashing, but no fans or screen. Then Mute and UP volume button lights up and DOWN volume button starts blinking. Notebook shuts down fiew seconds after.

    External display doesnt show anything either.

    What does this blinking means ?

    Was it working before the inverter burned out?

    Try:

    - Testing your AC adapter with a multimeter

    - Using a known good Dell 90 watt AC adapter

    - Removing your battery and AC adapter, hold down power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times

    If that doesn't work, those look like symptoms of a bad motherboard.

    You need to find out the order in which they flash.

    There telling you whats wrong ;)

    They do the initial round up flashing, and then I get 2 solids (mute and volume up) and 1 blingking (volume down).

    Any cheap mobo replacement ?
