Ok on December 13 I ordered a 1535 and then decided to add bluetooth to the system and the cs guy I spoke with canceled my order which was expected to ship 12/26 and said the exspected ship date may change and also informed me that I could get the 1537 for the same price since it was the deal of the day. I agreed for him to cancel the order and he set up a new order but the expected ship date is now 1/09!!!!!!

The kicker is if I go on the site and order the exact system with 3gb memory and the bluetooth is shows and estimated ship date of 12/26??I don't understand. Is there any chance my laptop is going to come before the expected ship date of 1/09??

*****I should also note that the automated line says my laptop is now in build, this is day 2 in build.

    Hey there!

Sorry that you had to cancel your order just to add *bluetooth*..That's how it is with Dell, though! Any changes you do to your order will cause it to be cancelled and a new order processed! ;)

The ESD is usually over-projected. That give's Dell some room, in case a part is on backorder, or there are any delays on the Production line!
So, there is a chance, you could very well get your 1537 on or before the ESD of 1/09.

It's good that you are in the build stage now. You could be in the build stage up to 5 days. As long as things are going well, hopefully the production process will continue along, smoothly for you!

Here is a great thread to review regarding the Order process:
    Dell Laptop Order Stages Wiki:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=156489

If you get thru the build stage smoothly, hopefully you will receive your new lappy sooner than the latter of the ESD! :D

Hope that helps, and good luck!

    Cin ;) :)

I placed an order for a studio 1537 on Dec. 11 and it has been in the "boxing stage" since Sunday, so I would expect it to ship tomorrow. The ship date estimate I was given when I ordered was 12/23/08. So, in my case, they are a week ahead of schedule.

Did you order your Studio 1537 with the Intel graphics or the ATI graphics? I know there was an extra delay for Intel graphics.

Dell usually overprojects on the ESD's...gives them leeway..in case there are prob's such as a part on backorder, etc.

I think yours will ship w/in the next 2 days, you are well ahead of schedule..a good thing! :D

The graphics card is whatever was standard. The only thing I added to it was the 3gb memory and the bluetooth.

** Still in the build stage this a.m.

Aaah..continue and try and be just a bit more patient. I know how you feel..my I9 I am waiting for sat in the Build stage for a bit of time...And finally it is in the boxing stage! BUT..that was because a part was on backorder.

I think you will move out of the build stage w/in a day or 2 ;) :D

It's so hard to be patient...when we want something badly, isn't it! :( ;)

But that patience, does pay off in the end! :D

Aww.. :( Sorry....I believe normal build time can be up to 5 days, and sometimes even longer..it depends on what is *going on* in the production line, etc :D I'm wondering if there is a part on back order or something.

I called about the delay on my I9..My I9 was in the build stage for almost 17 days  So, yeah..turns out the keyboard (of all things) was on backorder causing the delay. Hence, me being in the build stage for so long.

I would try, and call and speak with a Customer Care Rep and ask *If a part is on backorder from the manufacturer*, and have them tell you which one ~ if so. Sometimes, you will get a rep and they will tell you the exact problem..and I hate saying this..sometimes not.

You could always lead into the convo' and say..yeah I was wondering what part was on backorder causing my 1537 to be in the build stage for so long.
And, see how they respond to that. :D

Let us know what was said if/and after you call! :D

Smilies bring color and life to a thread, particularly those on such warm and engaging subjects as "Dell Studio 1537 Shipping Time??", "The Dell from Hell.... now what?", and "Order cancelled by Dell after portions already shipped?"

It's unimaginable to me that anyone would see a topic such as these and not enthusiastically pour over every word contained therein, but for those that would, smilies help to bridge the gap. It's a public service.

Dell Delays 2008 Holiday!! Dell Disappointment – Delayed Orders Again!

I am so utterly ticked-off, I can hardly contain myself. I ordered a Dell laptop for a holiday gift for my little girl...I ordered BEFORE the mad holiday rush, and BEFORE black Friday. It has been delayed 4 times...I have emailed Dell 3 times...each time only getting an automatic response. I have called them 6 times, and was transferred thru the same department customer care center 11 times. Never leaving the same department - just going around in circles. It got to the point I actually had to laugh out loud...so obvious. They could have at least transferred me to different departments.

I have to say, this is by FAR the worst customer service experience I have ever had!! - bottom line. They could give a X#@(. They don’t try to help you replace your product with something else they may be ready to ship - or at least ship earlier. They don’t tell you why your order is delayed. They don't even want to talk to you.

You know; if one looks thru history. Looks at how many companies have gone under because of severe poor customer service - or because of promoting an item, and not being prepared for delivery promises...or even posting 'guaranteed' shipment dates, then not following thru...one would see Dell is going to have some serious issues.

I wish I had the power to single handedly force them to talk to their customers - to force them to have to deal with the issue - to show them, they cannot, nor should not be allowed to 'BS' the world.

Is anyone else having this 2008 issue?? - is there anything we can do?
