    Dell Studio 1537 Black Screen

    My year and a half old Dell 1537 (with very light use) screen is black upon boot-up. When I put a flashlight to the screen I can see the desktop has loaded in the background. Local tech wants $150 to do diagnostic. Has anyone had this problem or can offer advice? I'm not tech savy and have no idea what the problem parts, costs could be. Tech mentioned screen panel, motherboard, etc. Please help!

    It seems likely the screen backlight has failed. If so, there should be instructions on how to do it on the web, though it may be fiddly to do.
