I have find myself struggling to open links in new tabs with Firefox and IE because the keyboard shortcut to perform this action is Right CTRL + Mouse Click.

Is there anyway I can swap the Left and Right CTRL assignments around in Windows?

you can also use the middle mouse click in firefox to open link in new tabs. donno abt IE8 try it. in most laptop touchpads press the both buttons together to get a middle mouse click

You can just set your browsers to open links in new tabs... Or if you're using a mouse with a middle mouse click, just use that instead (usually with the scroll).
