    Hi all,

I have a Dell Studio 1535 which has many problems at the moment
    - Overheat (probably heat sink issue because I tried to reapply thermal paste).
    - Touch panel problem.
    - Screen has keyboard print (like it has some dirty key on the screen but can't clean it)

Should I extend the warranty? How much does it cost? After I extend the warranty, all problems will be solved with no more charge, right?

Sorry for my bad English :)

    Thanks in advance

If it's about to expire, yes it would be wise given your situtation. Your best bet is to call up Dell and give them your service tag.

If it's already expired then you have to call up Dell or email/chat to do a warranty extension. A word to the wise, a warranty extension being OOW will be more expensive than if you had it in warranty.

You could try to call in and make it a not so much known 'Safety Capture'.
If its got sharp edges, creates electric sparks, or is in any condition that might harm you... ...you can get a new machine for free.
By all means, this is not a procedure to be taken lightly. You might end up getting it back, stating that they didn't find any 'safety capture' about it, so make sure you do infact have either sharp edges, or are getting electrocuted by it. -For instance, connecting it to an external screen, and 'something weird and scary' happens.

Ok so here is the offer:
    1 year hardware & software warranty = MYR 980.00
    - with CompleteCover warranty – add MYR 120.00
    - with Night & Weekend service – add MYR 110.00
    (1 USD = ~3MYR)

Is this a good offer compare to price to fix all of my problems as above? (my laptop is over 2 years warranty expired)

Holy moly that is expensive. I would invest that money in another laptop IMO. And from what I am seeing Dell has killed the Studio line..

After negotiate he promises me that he will give me 20% discount.
And yes, I can't see Studio 1535 on Dell website. Is there any chance that they will replace an equivalent spec or same league laptop for me? :D

I wouldn't spend more than 100 bucks really for that extended warranty. The reason for the high price is it's been out of warranty for so long.

If they cannot repair your Studio 1535 or it has been in for service many times, then Dell will give you a replacement unit. You will probably get a Inspiron N5010/5030 (15R) but it is really at Dell's digression.
