I know that the Dell Studio 15 speakers are not very good, but I was surprised to hear that even when I plugged my headphones in, the audio quality was very bad. There is a lack of bass and it all sounds very tinned. Is this normal? Or is it perhaps a driver problem? I have installed the IDT Audio driver for Windows XP.

I have a creative L3800 2.1 surround plugged in on the XP driver and honestly it's quite good.. Dunno about ear plugs, maybe just cheap plugs?
Maybe too: the xp driver isn't that advanced as the vista driver?

It's not the plugs. The music sounds great when connected to another PC or MP3 player.
