I'm going off to university for the next 3 years and I'm probably going to get the studio 15. It only comes with a 1 year warranty and I was wondering if it's reliable enough to stick with that or if I should get an extended warranty on it. I'm pretty tight for money right now, so I'd like to save the money. But, if there's problems with this model, then I'll get the extended warranty.

If money's tight, stick with the standard 1 year warranty. You can always add to it later if you feel you need it.

I would go ahead with the one year warranty, but take the 30 day return policy that they have very seriously because you may be inclined to return it.
I have the studio 1536 (AMD) and it has had problems from day one, though I think I got a dud. Also I would get the 1555 as they removed the touch sensitive media controls and replaced with with physical keys (dumped em on the F-- keys) so that problem is over.
Look around these forums and get an idea of peoples oppinions on the studio lineup. Also dealing with Dell is a pain as you get transfered a lot and talk to mindless zombies.
Not trying to discourage you, but the above is just what i have experienced in the first and last 4 weeks of ownership. -
It is not reliable enough, plain and simple. Mine had problems in the first week. Get at least a 2 year.
