Hey, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post, last night whilst catching up on the latest season of Supernatural my studio 15 started making this loud static noise, the screen went bright green and white and then it just crashed completely since then I can't even get it to boot up to the BIOS screen. The hard drive begins to make the boot up noise, the power up button on the side lights up but the screen doesn't even look like it's powered.
Any ideas or fixes? I'd be more than happy to pay for someone to replace the CPU/Graphics card as it is more than overdue an upgrade anyway and would probably be cheaper than buying a new rig as I'm guessing that's what's up =/

Hi,
Since, you have mentioned that there is a hard drive spinning sound it could be an issue with the LCD screen or a faulty graphics card. To isolate the issue you may try the following steps.
• Please make sure that the AC power is connected.
• Press and hold the key ‘D’ and turn on the system.
• If the screen is fine it will display some color bars.
• You can connect an external monitor and check if you are getting a display on it.
• When you have the external monitor connected , once you get the Hard Drive spinning sound please press Fn + F8 to check if you are getting the display on the external monitor. If you don’t see any response on the monitor in the first attempt please try the Fn + F8 again two or three times to check if the display is getting switched to the external monitor.
• If the issue is only with LCD, there will be a display on the external monitor.
I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Swapanajan,
I am facing a similar problem with my dell studio 1535. It developed a windows load problem in the morning today and gave an error "Unable to load windows/system32/winload.exe . I called up Dell Technical Support and they asked me to run Diagnostics. Since the diagnostics was taking time, so the Technical Representative asked me to switch it off.
Since then, when I press the power button, the BIOS is also not booting up. I am not even able to use the Vista CD that I got from Dell. I ran the Display test and was able to see different colors on the screen by pressing "D". Could you please help me out here to boot the BIOD \ -
Having the same start up problems as above.
I've tried the 'D' key and the power button and I get colors on the screen but when connecting to an external display with either VGA or HDMI nothing comes up.
I can hear the HDD and DVD drive are both powering up along with the flashing media buttons, but other than that there's no life out of it.
Anything else I could try to get it working again?
Dell Studio 15 not booting up!! =(
