If you don't get any hits here, you may want to try the gaming discussion section. As for GTA4 and that laptop, your weak link is obviously the video card. The HD5470 is only an entry level direct x11 card and it is sure to dissapoint if you want to max settings on a lot of games. There are much better cards for laptops that will play that game.

The only thing I can suggest, if you haven't done it already is try decreasing the resolution you're playing at if you're set to 1080. There is noooo way you will get decent frame rates with that card at that high a resolution. The game is playable with some tweaks but you will never get stellar performance.

    Good Luck to you!

I have tried with the least setting as:
800x600 with all low or turned off. The game is playable but jerky gameplay. Which make hell to play it. Working around to find some solution so that it become smooth, so I can play it atleast. Updated driver, updated patches. But no as such solution yet....

It is to save the battery charge while not on AC. It is ok.

I've read that GTA4 isn't optimized for ATI GPUs. Apparently a lot of people with ATI cards have similar problems. I have read a lot of posts where people couldn't play GTA4 on the Dell Studio Laptops.
