Well, got my new studio 15 about 2 hours ago and... everything is a dream.

    Specifiications:

    Studio 1535, Intel Core 2 Duo T5850, 2.16GHz, 667Mhz, 2M L2 Cache, Jet Black
    3GB, DDR2, 667Mhz 2 Dimm
    Back-lit Keyboard
Glossy, widescreen 15.4" inch display (1280x800)
    ATI Mobile Radeon HD 3450
250G 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    Vista SP1 Home Premium
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD Software
    Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n
    6-Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (2.0) + Travel Mouse

When I first set it up, everything was alright until I tried to set up the bluetooth and it didn't seem to respond. I set vista to the lower security setting when I set it up, which does the automatic updates but it doesn't babysit me. Also, I have McAfee going and I assume that will be enough.

Then I tried to access the support center and the chat and it said it wasn't available for the product which quite bothered me seeing as I went through the trouble of getting the best warranty I could get. Then I went through the phone number and, before I got to an actual person, I realized that I had not actually flipped the wireless to the right position since it was apparently in the "on" position out of the box. Afterwords, everything has been working fine and has been installed.

Then I killed the dock because it is useless and big and ugly. If it had some real OSX like dock functions I would use it, but, since it is just a glorified start menu, I sent it packing.

However, the one thing I haven't been able to fix is the fact that my middle mouse button no longer closes tabs or opens links in new tabs in Firefox... which bothers me to no end! If any one can help on this I would be very appreciative.

I just installed UT3 on my computer and, once I have that patched up, which will hopefully have a NoCD function, I will give some word as to the real performance of it but otherwise it is quite speedy.

The speakers suck, but I have my Sony MDR-XD100s on and they are working well enough (I plan on getting the M-Audio AV-40s, though). I have yet to try the wifi but I don't think my present router will be a very good example of the top of what I can do with it and I would like to get some specifications on my router, its what Verizon gave me when I got FiOS, whatever that may be, before I report on that.

Despite all of the troubles so far... I LOVE THIS LAPTOP!!!

If anyone has any questions, I will try my very best to answer them.

    Thanks and best wishes.

I got the Jet Black and, unfortunately, I can't take any pics.

For more detail on the middle thing, though, when I click the middle button it coughs up a magnifying glass icon. I don't know what that means or why it does that.

To "fix" the middle button, try this -

    1. Find this icon in the bottom right corner
    [IMG]

    2. Right click it, and click "Device Settings".

    3. Select "3. Middle Button" from the list.

    4. Select ""Other" to the right of it, then click "Show Functions"

    5. Select "Middle Button" from the drop down menu.

Voila! That should solve it. Drove me up the wall for about 2 hours as well.

Also, congrats on the new laptop, it is a sexy beast. I went for the purple colour, but if I didn't have an unhealthy obsession with the colour purple, I'd probably have gotten black. How shiny is yours (on the lid)?

First off, woot! Ben J, that worked and thanks a ton. My lid is not really shiny at all, it is more of a matte black I would say. However, it sure does love the fingerprinting, as does the keyboards. Then again, I tend to get sweaty palms so I am kind of up a river without a paddle on that one.

Vrevo, I believe I ordered the laptop last Wednesday or Thursday evening and it came at about 3pm today.

I don't know if my router is n compatible, I don't think so, but I am getting about 1/3 to 1/2 my usual speed down, 8-10kbps, and the same speed up, 4-5kbps.

UT3 played well at 1024x768, full screen, and full percentage of screen shown, an FOV of 90, and all the other settings were at one below maximum. I haven't tried pushing it beyond that yet, especially since it was kind of chugging. I would like to try Bioshock on it but I worry that might be waste.

Well, now that I got the mouse thing cleared up, this laptop is awesome!

My only real caveats left unsaid are that the fan can get a little noisy, it can be kinda hot, it is kinda heavy, and the disc drive sounds like an angry demon when it takes in a disc. The whirring of the disc in use I can deal with but the sound it makes when it takes it... wuhoohh.

That'll be my baby in those pics. I can imagine the black would be bad for fingerprints. Thankfully my purple has a kind of rubberised finish to it which eliminates that problem (although dust sticks to it like you wouldn't believe). Anyway, glad the fix worked for you (what a stupid way to have the middle button configured, how many people must use the zoom function?) and that you're enjoying the laptop.

Lotta, when you get yours (it'll be worth the wait) I'd love to see some pics of the colour. Was sorely tempted by the orange.

Yeah I'll be taking a bunch of pics with a nice camera. I'm just mad my laptop has been delayed. I hope the week delay isn't generic (as in they always give a 1 week delay, and will keep adding on week by week). Someone said they Dell tends to do that. I really am dying to get my hands on it. First new computer(and first laptop) in around 7 years.
