Which one do you think is better? There both basically the same. Which one would you get? Im going to be getting one of them from best buy in the new few days but dont know which one to get. Im going to be financing it so it has to be from there. They got the 1525 for $750 with a core 2 duo t5750, 3gb ram and 250gb hardrive. I dont know if they got the Studio 15 but on the dell site the configuration seems the same!!!

Studio 15 is clearly the winner here.

I think the Studio has some more interesting design features; backlit keyboard, slot loading drive, wifi catcher, as well as some pretty solid specs. I would go for the Studio. However, it would be a good idea to read the reviews for both laptops.

Yah im leaning towards the Studio aswell because its newer. When did the 1525 and Studio 15 come out? If i do get the 1525 from best buy ill pretty much be getting ripped off because the coupon you can use on this site for a $1000 1525 will knock off 20%, so it will be $800 shipped to me with blu-ray, 4gb ram and a bunch of other things. I just dont have the money to spend all at once like that. So yah im kinda confused lol!!!

Also, the 1525 doesn't have a dedicated video card, if that matters any.

Yah but people always have like some sort of complaint about it. All in all it sounds like a really good laptop but theres always 1 thing lol. But im not really a picky guy as im not going to be doing anything big with this laptop, the only thing that would make me take it back is the keyboard. Thats like one of most important features to me. If i cant type properly on it, then thats gonna be freakin annoying lol. So hopefully its really good. Are there any coupons for this laptop anywhere?

They also sell brand new computers that other people were planning to buy but cancelled their orders.

The 1525 is a tried and tested system and its quite sleek too, much thinner than the Studio 15. However, if you choose it, you cant have a dedicated graphics card, which means you cant even play mid level games inspite of having a decent processor and a good amount of RAM. I chose the Studio 15 mainly because of the graphics card, but it also has a lot of other features, like the Express remote, the noise isolation earphones and the bluetooth headset.

Also there is the slot loading drive which looks great but its a bit too noisy for my liking.

I dont care bout the graphics card im not going to be playing any games on it. And what express remote, isnt that the little tiny remote Dell gives with all there laptops? And they include headphones and a bluetooth headset with the laptop aswell? Im thinking of just getting it off ebay or something now. You can get a really good one for about $750 shipped. Cheaper then the Dell site!!!

Regarding the bluetooth headset and the creative earphones, they are available for free with the system in the Dell India Site, not in the US site, where you have pay 20 bucks more than the base price just for the Bluetooth module installed and the headset costs $79 more. But since the base cost is higher in India, the system comes to pretty much the same cost give or take 50 bucks.

Regarding Intel graphics, I am not really a fan of it. It gives a very bad performance in even some of the older games where not much graphics performance is required. Also, I read in the forum that an upgrading graphics option is next to impossible, and in the case of Intel Integrated graphics, it is impossible. That is the reason I went for the Studio which comes with a mid range graphics card.

No lcd latch design, slot load drive, dedicated graphics options, backlit keyboard option 'don't believe 1525 had that'. Go Studio.

1525 does not have a catch, is lighter, thinner and more reliable than the studio 15. (I have both)

Also, I prefer tray drives, you can upgrade them, use 8cm disks (many slot loaders do not support them or they can get stuck) and they are quieter.

1525 has a wifi sniffer, every dell that has a physical wifi switch has the sniffer.

The studio has the potential to get some reasonable specs trusting you spend, spend, spend. Many of its features like the backlit keyboard are optional extras and while the ati card it has is undoubtedly quicker than the x3100, it's still utter crap. However, both are able to output 1080p over hdmi to my tv with no problems at all.

1535 = thicker, heavier, few hardware (dell) /software (ati) problems that need to be ironed out and can have the dedicated gpu which is quicker than the x3100

1525 = thinner, lighter, mature bios, x3100 graphics which can do the basics in games (css, wow, ut2k4, oblivion, spore, etc) but not much more than that

It's really down to this question:

Do you want the new fancy designs + quicker gpu or do you want the overall more mobile machine without the dedicated gpu.

There is a 15% off code for the Studio 15 at the Dell Outlet. The code for the discount is 1R587HWVV1BFL6. The website is- http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh.

There are current 1,350 Studio 15's available at Dell Outlet. More than 900 of that number are 'Previously Ordered New' models. That means they're literally NEW, but discounted substantially. They've never been used and they all have the same 1-year warranty as a new one.

I ordered one of these a few days ago and my total was only $767.20 plus tax and shipping. For that, I got one with a 2.5GHz T9300 processor, ATI graphics, an LED display, backlit keyboard and several other nice features. Ordered new, it would have cost about $1400!!!

Holy ****, thats dope man. But what if they actually have been used, who knows, they can lie LOL. And why would they sell them in the outlet anyways? Why not just keep them until someone orders that specific one or something lol. Anywayz, thanks for the coupon code, where did you find it?

With Dell, who knows what the plans are...or if there IS a plan??? Sometimes it seems like they just make it up as they go along, at least in terms of marketing!!!

I'm thinking their plan is to have three distinct lines- Inspiron (value/budget), Studio (entertainment/multimedia) and XPS (gaming/high-performance).

The Inspiron notebooks will be 15.4" and smaller, limited number of options, integrated graphics only.

The Studio notebook line may expand to include either a 13.3" or 14.1" ültra-portable model as well as an 18"+ unit similar to the HP HDX and Toshiba Qosmio G55.

The XPS M1330 and M1530 will move upscale similalr the M1730, both in performance and price.

We'll see if this is how it all turns out....

There are currently more than 900 Studio 15 units and 1400 Inspiron 1525 units in the Dell Outlet as 'Previously Ordered New' (PON). Usually, items marked as PON are orders that have been cancelled or were undeliverable for some reason. If the EULA (End User License Agreement) has been accepted, which is required to begin setup, the computer must be sold as 'Refurbished'.

It's highly unlikely that a few thousand orders were cancelled, thus created these PON systems. In all probability, Dell built a large number of these systems to liquidate some existing hardware inventory before transitioning to the Intel Montevina/Centrino2 platform. It also is a great way to stimulate cash flow in the short-term, although it erodes profit margins overall.

Regardless of the reasons, anyone who wants a Studio 15 or Inspiron 1525 won't ever find a better time to buy than RIGHT NOW! :D
